This
is the main managers bungalow on the old Harvard rubber plantation
in the North of Malaysia. The house is a very formal and smart
looking building; no specific construction date has yet been
established, but it may have been built during the 1930's.
Harvard plantation was one of the only American owned plantation
estates in Malaya before the war.
Today the old bungalow shelters under the protective cover
of two immense rain forest trees. It looks to have last been
used as hostel for students but hasn't been occupied for a
number of years since.
Standing on the main balcony, there are amazing views westwards
towards the tranquil hills of the Tupah forest range, which
are only a couple of kilometers away. It's incredibly sad
to think that such a house with so much history can be left
in this state. |
