This
was once an exclusive 5 star international standard resort.
I had the pleasure of staying here when it first opened way
back in the 90’s. I still remember that wonderful new
building smell it had. What greeted you as you first entered
the lobby was the vastness of the main central area with its
massive chandeliers that hung from the ceiling. This place
was designed to wow, and it did that in spades.
Unfortunately, for whatever reason, this exclusive resort
somehow failed and ceased trading in the mid 2000’s.
The building was then mothballed with 24hr security placed
to guard it with the hope that one day it may be resurrected.
To revisit a location after
it’s abandonment is always interesting. This time
around the place had obviously taken on a completely different
personality; gone was the airy proud ambience it had, now
replaced with a heavy atmosphere filled with the stench
of decay. The open air coffee house where once you could
sit and lookout to the magnificent swimming pool was now
dark and dingy, crowded in on all sides by overgrown plants
and trees.
Back inside the main core of the hotel, the massive chandeliers
still clung to the ceiling and the Yamaha piano that used
to play calming music in the lounge now deafly silent and
mouldy.
5 star resort? Not anymore, and sadly doubtful it can ever
be resurrected again. What a waste.
