This
building dates from the 1930’s and sits on the banks
of a major river. Over the years this specific location
has not been the most perfect of sites, especially during
monsoon time when the river regularly breaks its banks and
floods the area. This probably has been the primarily reason
why this former police station has sat vacant for many years.
All of the ground floor rooms have a clear dark brown water
mark etched on their walls bearing evidence of the effects
of all the flooding.
A nice original feature is the stations lockup cells located
to the rear of the building. Years ago this very station
had the dubious honour of having a mass break out, where
prisoners had somehow escaped their cells and made their
way out through a hole the roof! All escapees I believe
were eventually recaptured.
Today, the building still
sits abandoned (2016) with some evidence of partial cleanup
and restoration work having been done in the last year.
