In
the middle of a town sits this fascinating building left
completely cloistered from the outside world behind high
walls. Decades ago this building was a courthouse but now
the structure has sat derelict for years.
Refreshingly this location
hadn't been ransacked through by thieves or vandals. Much
of the original furniture still sat within the old building,
including period British made strong safes from the 1920’s.
As usual with these old
structures, the roof had developed leaks allowing rain water
to slowly rot away the interior. Old filing cabinets and
cupboards now sat at awkward angles on rotten floor boards
ready to topple over at the slightest movement.
During my expore here, the occasional roar of a motorcycle
and the raised voices of passersby over the main wall kept
me on my toes as I went about my work. I shuffled through
the mounds of seeds left by bats on the floor and even startled
a cat sleeping in one of the courthouses regulation issue
chairs. The afternoon air was hot and humid but I was enjoying
every second of it. This was my kind of day in court.
