This
1930’s bungalow was last used as a judges residence.
The design of the building is typical for many old government
homes of the time. It has a large pyramidal roof to help
shed heavy monsoon rains, whilst inside it has large rooms
with high ceilings and verandas. There’s even a separate
cookhouse and quarters for servants out the back. The colonials
really knew how to live in relative comfort.
Much of the bungalows original issued furniture also remained
inside. Low slung cane chairs sat in the living room downstairs,
whilst more minimalist pieces populated the rooms upstairs.
A revisit back here a couple
of years later and the bungalow had since been completely
renovated and was now the official residence of a VIP.
